The Role

OKI Sauna is looking for reliable, friendly and practical people to join our team as Sauna Hosts at our new seafront sauna in Eastbourne.

This is a hands-on operational role. You will help prepare and run the sauna, manage the wood-burning stove, keep the site clean and safe, and make sure every guest receives a warm welcome.

The role involves early starts, outdoor work in all weather and some physical tasks, including moving firewood, carrying water and cleaning the sauna and plunge areas.

You will often be trusted to manage the site independently, so reliability, good judgement and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Sauna Operations

• Open and prepare the sauna before the first session.

• Light, manage and safely maintain the wood-burning stove.

• Ensure the sauna reaches and maintains the correct operating temperature.

• Record regular temperature and safety checks.

• Restock and move firewood from the storage area.

• Prepare water for sauna use and guest drinking stations.

• Manage session timings and ensure smooth changeovers between bookings.

• Monitor the sauna, plunge tubs and surrounding areas throughout your shift.

• Close down and secure the site at the end of the day.

Cleaning and Site Maintenance

• Keep the sauna, plunge tubs, changing areas, shower and surrounding site clean and organised.

• Clean between sessions so every guest arrives to a welcoming environment.

• Complete opening, cleaning and closing checklists.

• Identify and report maintenance, equipment or safety concerns promptly.

• Help maintain consistently high standards across the whole site.

Guest Experience

• Welcome guests and check them in for their session.

• Provide a clear introduction to the sauna, plunge tubs and site safety guidelines.

• Answer questions confidently and explain how each session works.

• Ensure guests follow the sauna rules while maintaining a relaxed and positive atmosphere.

• Support customers who may be new to sauna and cold-water use.

• Speak to interested passers-by and explain how to book.

Safety and Reporting

• Complete required digital health and safety records.

• Record temperatures, incidents and any operational concerns.

• Follow OKI Sauna’s safety procedures and operating guidelines.

• Communicate clearly with the management team throughout your shift.

• Complete all required training provided by OKI Sauna.

Community and Social Content

• Help create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere around the sauna.

• Capture occasional photos or Instagram Stories during your shift, where appropriate.

• Represent OKI Sauna positively within the local community.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Based in or close to Eastbourne.

• Available to work weekends, early mornings and occasional evenings.

• Reliable, punctual and comfortable working independently.

• Friendly, calm and confident when speaking with customers.

• Able to follow safety procedures and complete operational checks accurately.

• Physically capable of moving firewood, carrying water and working in a hot environment.

• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year.

• Willing to learn how to safely operate a wood-burning sauna stove.

Desirable

• Previous experience in hospitality, leisure, wellness or customer service.

• First Aid qualification.

• Experience operating a sauna, wood burner or similar equipment.

• Knowledge or personal experience of sauna and cold-water therapy.

• Experience working near the sea or in an outdoor environment.

Working Hours

We are currently recruiting for:

Morning: 5:30 am - 12:30pm

Daytime: 12:30pm - 20:30pm

Availability during these hours is essential. Further shifts may become available depending on bookings, seasonal demand and staff availability. Working hours are negotiable.
